Finance for Peace publishes version 3 of the Standards
The reference against which investments are certified for the Peace Stamp and their implementation independently verified, approved by the Standards Committee.
About Finance for Peace
The Standards Committee sets the Finance for Peace Standards and certifies that suitable actions to reduce conflict risks are designed into an investment. Investments across asset classes that meet the Standards receive the Peace Stamp. This builds rigour and market trust in a new category of labelled, peace-aligned investments.
The StandardsThrough its Market Network it brings investors, project developers, governments, peace experts and local partners together to put the Standards to work in real transactions.
The Market NetworkConflict risks affect what gets financed and on what terms. Better design can reduce them, and the Finance for Peace Standards make the measures that reduce them independently verifiable.
WHY
Conflict risks, driven by security, political, social and environmental factors, can undermine a project’s viability, profitability and results. They can be hidden, and they apply even to investments in markets not directly affected by conflict. Capital then stays away or is often mispriced, and projects go unfinanced or cause unintended harm.
HOW
Much of the risk comes from how a project is designed and run, and can be reduced through better design. Peace measures, such as community engagement, benefit-sharing and grievance mechanisms, are how that is done.
WHAT
Reduced risk only draws capital in if the market can see, check and trust it. Finance for Peace sets the Standards, with independent certification and verification every year. As the market learns to rely on certified, independently verified peace measures, more projects can become investable, investors can reduce the hidden risk in their portfolios, and capital can reach the places that need it most, benefiting the communities involved.
The Finance for Peace Standards give project owners and investors confidence that suitable measures to reduce a project’s conflict risks are built in, funded, monitored and independently checked.
