What it covers

Peacebuilding faces greater challenges than at any point in a generation: more conflicts, shrinking aid budgets and a geopolitical landscape that makes multilateral responses harder. This brief argues that the answer lies partly in a new kind of partnership between peacebuilding organisations and the financial sector. It sets out what each side brings, where the interests align, and what a working partnership looks like in a live transaction: the peace expert as a paid partner in the design of the project rather than a consultee after the fact, and the investor as a party whose returns depend on getting that design right.
