What it covers

Commissioned by the Finance for Peace initiative and authored by TrustWorks Global, this study examines the facilities that finance small and medium enterprises in fragile and conflict-affected settings, and asks whether and how they contribute to peace. It reviews the evidence, examines a set of facilities in detail, and sets out how SME finance could be designed to reduce conflict risk and strengthen local economies rather than simply avoid harm.
