What it covers

An empirical review of the relationship between foreign direct investment by multinational companies and peace and conflict dynamics in African host countries. The study examines when investment has strengthened stability and when it has fuelled grievance, and identifies the features of project design, community engagement and benefit-sharing that distinguish the two. It is the evidence base for much of the Standards’ approach to peace measures.
